Every 5 seconds, someone goes blind.
90% of visually impaired people live in low- and middle-income countries where the loss of sight poses an enormous burden on the affected individuals and their families.

285 million people are suffering from visual impairment and blindness, 90% of the visually impaired people live in developing countries, 50% of children who become blind die within two years, 80% of blindness is curable or preventable

Blindness can be avoided if treated with proper intervention.
Heart to Heart International is committed to build comprehensive and sustainable eye health system in developing countries where the impact of visual impairment on quality of life is particularly acute.

As a member of International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and International Coalition for Trachoma Control (ICTC), Heart to Heart International aims to strengthen health systems and facilitate policy development to achieve the goals of ”VISION 2020: The Right to Sight campaign,” a global campaign to eliminate avoidable blindness by the year 2020. Heart to Heart International develops practical community based programs which ensure access to quality eye care, builds capacity of eye health professionals in the region, and conducts advocacy program through partnership and ultimately contributes to eradication of preventable blindness.
