The Heart to Heart Foundation and our supporters have helped Saloon's dream of continuing studying come true.
Last September, he was brought to the hospital to have his left eye diagnosed and treat the poor eye-sight of his right eye.
After an hour's drive along the unpaved road from the city, we met Saloon. Just like before, he was studying very hard with his right eye, which was filled with tears and was bloodshot, making it so difficult to even look at the blackboard.
On arriving at the hospital, Saloon received his eye test and treatment.
It was discovered that both his eyes were infected with trachoma. However, while it was too late to recover his left eye sight, it was diagnosed that his right eye could be cured with treatment and medicine.
Finally, Saloon could smile a relieved smile, and was no longer afraid of losing his remaining eye sight without even knowing the reason. The medical team was also relieved that it was not too late to treat the trachoma and prevent blindness. They gave Saloon advice on how to take care of his eye and encouraged him that he will now have healthy eyes.
Currently, Saloon has recovered his health and is studying very hard at school.
Trachoma is highly likely to recur, so it is important to improve the sanitation at home. However, Saloon‘s family cannot afford to do much.
